Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) is a 6-year professional doctoral program in the field of pharmacy, designed to produce qualified clinical pharmacists who play a direct role in patient care. The program includes 5 years of academic study and 1 year of compulsory internship or residency in hospitals, where students undergo hands-on clinical training.
Pharm D focuses on clinical pharmacy, pharmacotherapeutics, patient counseling, hospital pharmacy, and evidence-based medicine. It bridges the gap between pharmacists and doctors by equipping students to advise on drug therapy decisions, monitor patient outcomes, and manage medication safety and efficacy.
Recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Pharm D graduates are eligible to register as pharmacists and work in hospitals, healthcare institutions, research centers, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs, or pursue further research and specializations in clinical pharmacy.
