Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a 5.5-year undergraduate program including 4.5 years of academic study and a 1-year compulsory internship. The course provides comprehensive education in classical Ayurvedic principles along with relevant subjects from modern medicine such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and surgery. Students learn to diagnose and treat patients using Ayurvedic therapies, herbal medicines, lifestyle modifications, and Panchakarma techniques. The curriculum also emphasizes preventive healthcare and holistic wellness approaches. Upon graduation, students are recognized as Ayurvedic physicians and can practice independently, work in wellness centers, research, or pursue postgraduate studies in Ayurveda and allied sciences.
