The Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom) is a 4-year undergraduate program (including 1 year of clinical internship) that prepares students to become eye care professionals, known as optometrists. The course equips students with in-depth knowledge and clinical training in eye examination, vision correction, detection of ocular diseases, and prescribing of spectacles, contact lenses, and visual aids.
The curriculum integrates theoretical foundations in optics, human anatomy, and ocular diseases with hands-on practice in refraction, binocular vision assessment, contact lens fitting, and low vision therapy. Students are also trained in patient care, communication, and the use of modern diagnostic equipment.
